Kick-off Meeting hosted by Nile University, Egypt

Nile University joined a consortium funded by ERASMUS, under the administration of Prof Wael Akl, the president of Nile University, and led by Alexandria University, as Prof. Ahmed Wahid (AU), the project coordinator, designed and implemented the first online pharmacogenomics diploma and Master’s (MSc) program in Egypt.

The consortium hosts the project partners which comprise universities, academic institutions, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Egypt, Lebanon, and Europe including the Children Cancer Hospital 57357, Magdi Yacoub Heart Foundation, Al Alfi Foundation, American University of Beirut, Beirut Arab University, Oviedo University, Kiel University CAU, New Castle University, Democritus University of Thrace, and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

Prof. Ahmed Wahid (AU), welcomed the sharing attendees and made a brief introduction about the project together with its overall overview.

Prof. Mervat Kassem, Dean of the faculty of pharmacy-AU, via zoom meeting, expressed her extreme happiness regarding the launch of the OPPM project. She attested to the crucial need of building up such a rare, yet necessary, pharmacogenomics postgraduate program.

Dr. Noha Fawzy (NU), the Project Coordinator of ITCT and the external reviewer of the OPPM project, shared her experience in ITCT Erasmus + project and emphasized the significance and the robust impacts of the OPPM project. She overviewed the ITCT project map among different stages.

Prof. Wael Akl (NU), explained to the participating partners certain administrative points regarding the grant agreement as well as the partnership agreements. He presented some general remarkable points and reporting time, templates that should be implemented.
