Dr. Salwa A. Abuiessa is an assistant professor at the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology, Faculty of Pharmacy, AU, Egypt. She got her bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences in June 2011, with the general grade of Distinction Honor, ranking first in her class. Afterward, Salwa assumed her responsibilities as an instructor in Pharmacology and Toxicology Department for almost 9 years (2012-2021), during which she gained outstanding experience establishing and guiding laboratory sessions for undergraduate pharmacy courses in Pharmacology and Toxicology. In June 2021, she got her well-earned Ph.D. and started to work as an assistant professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology. Her research focuses on maternal and fetal programming induced by preeclampsia in rats and how this could influence endotoxemia’s cardiovascular, autonomic, and neuroinflammatory consequences. Dr. Salwa has authored over 11 scientific publications. Dr. Salwa’s research provided new insight into the mechanisms underlying pleiotropic sepsis-related end-organ damage. She is a member of The American Society for Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics (ASPET) (2019-present) and the AU Community Service and Environmental Development Committee (2021-present). She got two International Travel Awards in the Graduate and Post-baccalaureate Student category and one in the Postdoctoral Scientist category to attend the ASPET Annual Meeting at Experimental Biology (2020-2022). The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics selected her as the HIGHLIGHTED TRAINEE AUTHOR in May 2020.
