Read DetailsThe University of Oviedo is the public institution of higher education and research of the Principality of Asturias (Spain). With more than 400 years of history, it offers a complete range of degrees adapted to the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) in all branches of knowledge, bilingual itineraries, double degrees with international universities, and inter-university postgraduate courses in collaboration with more than 250 companies. The University of Oviedo was one of the first nine Spanish universities to be accredited as a Campus of International Excellence on 26 November 2009. It has an international vocation, is closely committed to its territorial environment, and has a solid commitment to transferring knowledge to the productive fabric. The CEI Asturias-Ad Futurum project brings together more than 300 institutions, companies, and technology centers. Big figures: 25,000 students; 2,000 teachers and researchers; 1,000 administrative and service workers; 57 degrees (17 degrees with bilingual itineraries); 50 university master's degree courses; 6 Erasmus Mundus Masters (3 coordinated by the University of Oviedo); 24 doctoral programs; 198 million euros annual budget. The University of Oviedo carries out 80% of R&D&I in Asturias and has state-of-the-art services and equipment to facilitate knowledge transfer to the productive fabric. The income from scientific production amounts to some 40 million euros per year, and has nearly 500 contracts or agreements with companies to develop research projects. The university also leads two clusters specializing in Energy, Environment and Climate Change, and Biomedicine and Health, closely connected with regional technology parks and the Asturian health network. Within the framework of institutional social responsibility, the University of Oviedo has services for the care and support of people with specific needs and a solidary space where to develop actions of volunteerism and international cooperation.
