The second policymakers event for the OPPM Program took place on October 17, 2024, at the Four Seasons Hotel Cairo, gathering 50 participants from healthcare and academia to highlight advancements in personalized medicine and pharmacogenomics in Egypt. Dr. Dalia Makhlouf opened with a session on “PGx from Bench to Bedside,” illustrating the translation of pharmacogenomics research into clinical applications. Dr. Mahmoud Ibrahim followed, discussing the impact of microbiome variations on precision medicine and later, pharmacometrics’ role in optimizing drug therapy. Eng. Ahmed Gad showcased the Ministry of Communications’ expanded digital resources in pharmacogenomics education. Prof. Ahmed Wahid provided a comprehensive project overview, emphasizing the OPPM Program’s achievements since the previous event. An interactive discussion wrapped up the event, focusing on challenges and opportunities for personalized medicine in Egypt, marking substantial progress in integrating pharmacogenomics into the country’s healthcare landscape.
